How To Change Comment Color In Word

Do you prefer editing with a specific colour? If so, y'all tin change the color of Runway Changes markup in Microsoft Word. Specifically, you tin can choose from eighteen unlike colors for insertions, deletions, text movements, and comment airship borders, as shown in this tutorial.

Before starting the tutorial, delight review these important notes:

• Track Changes colors apply to all markup in the certificate. Word doesn't currently offering a way to choose specific colors for individual users.
• Runway Changes colors appear in-line (i.e., in the text) rather than in balloons or the Reviewing pane. If your markup only appears in balloons or doesn't appear at all, please see the bonus section beneath for the steps to show Runway Changes in-line.
• Track Changes colors are stored in your computer, not in your document. Therefore, your color choices won't transfer to someone else's calculator.
• The color of Rail Changes for formatting is customizable. However, the results can be visually disruptive because color changes can exist format changes. For best results, show format tracking in comment balloons.

The images below are from Give-and-take in Microsoft 365. These steps also utilise to Word 2021, Discussion 2019, Word 2016, and Word 2013. Nevertheless, your interface may look different in those older versions of the software.

How to Change the Colour of Track Changes

1. Select the Review tab in the ribbon.

2. Select the dialog box launcher in the Tracking group.

3. Select the Advanced Options button in the Track Changes Options dialog box.

4. Choose a new colour for each of the tracking options in the Advanced Runway Changes Options dialog box:

(A) Insertions

(B) Deletions

(C) Comments (This is the color of the comment airship border, not the color of the comment text.)

(D) Text movements

Of import Note: The "By writer" selection gives each user a different colour. The software chooses those colors and does not currently offering a way to customize colors for different users.

5. Select the OK push button in the Avant-garde Track Changes Options dialog box.

7. Salvage your file to save your changes.

If your Track Changes markup doesn't appear in-line, follow the steps below to review your current settings.

Bonus Department: How to Evidence Track Changes In-line

1. Select the Review tab in the ribbon (see figure 1).
2. Ensure that All Markup is selected in the Display for Review menu.
